Hazare to address meeting in Lucknow May 1
Lucknow, April 16 (IANS) Social activist Anna Hazare will address a public meeting here May 1 to mobilise people against corruption, an official said Saturday.
Hazare’s visit to Lucknow is a part of the nationwide campaign planned by the India Against Corruption (IAC) organisation.
“The public meeting will be organised at Jhulelal Park near the Lucknow University. The objective behind holding such a meet is to unite people to wage a war against corruption," Akhilesh Saxena of IAC told reporters here.
“The desire to start the campaign in Uttar Pradesh from Lucknow was expressed by Arvind Kejriwal, one of the members of the recently-constituted committee for drafting the Lokpal Bill," he added.
The panel was formed last week following a 97-hour fast by Hazare in Delhi for a stringent anti-corruption law.
