Chandigarh, July 7 (IANS) TO help improve the adverse sex ratio in the state, the Haryana government Thursday announced that the scope of the ‘Ladli’ social security allowance scheme will be extended to include more families in it, a minister said.

 
 “To give impetus to efforts being made to further improve sex-ratio, the Haryana government has revised the ceiling on gross annual income of the family from all sources under this scheme from Rs.44,000 to Rs.two lakh per annum,” Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Geeta Bhukkal said.
 
 Under the 'Ladli' scheme, any biological single parent or parents who were domicile of Haryana or are working for the state government and have no son, biological or adopted, but only daughter are eligible to get a benefit of Rs.500 per month.
 
 The criteria for financial assistance being given under different social security schemes has been revised, the minister said.
 
 “This decision would prove a step forward in improving the child sex ratio in the state,” Bhukkal said.
 
 Haryana has the worst sex ratio among all states as per provisional figures of the Census 2011. The sex ratio in the state is 877 females per 1,000 males.
 
 She said the eligible family would be entitled to receive benefit under the scheme for a period of 15 years.
