Happy at being picked as CVC: Pradeep Kumar
Kochi, July 3 (IANS) Newly-selected Central Vigilance Commissioner (CVC) Pradeep Kumar Sunday said he was "happy" at being unanimously chosen to head India's anti-corruption watchdog.
"I am happy because it was a unanimous decision by the committee," Pradeep Kumar, who is on a holiday here, said.
He was chosen by the selection committee of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Home Minister P. Chidambaram and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj Saturday.
Presently the defence secretary, Pradeep Kumar is due to retire July 31.
A 1972-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Haryana cadre, Pradeep Kumar has held crucial posts at the central and state levels.
His tenure as the head of the Central Vigilance Commission will be of four years.
