Girl beheaded in Ranchi college
Ranchi, April 27 (IANS) In a gruesome incident, a knife-wielding youth beheaded a girl student right outside a classroom in St. Xavier's College here Wednesday afternoon. The man was known to the victim and police suspect the murder to be the result of a failed love affair.
According to police, Khushboo was a resident of Tupudana in Ranchi while the attacker, Bijendra Kumar, is an engineering student living in Jamshedpur.
The incident took place when Khushboo came out of the classroom after appearing for her intermediate examinations. Bijendra caught her and immediately beheaded her with a knife.
However, Bijendra could not escape as some students caught hold of him and thrashed him, before police arrived.
Khushboo's maternal grandmother lives in Jamshedpur and the boy knew the victim, a police officer said, adding that Bijendra could be a jilted lover.
The incident has shocked the management of St. Xavier's College, from where Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni is pursuing his graduation.
