Fuel price hike inevitable: Delhi CM
New Delhi, June 25 (IANS) Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit Saturday defended the fuel price hike, saying it was a reflection of the rise in international crude prices.
“The price of fuel has increased all over the world and so this price hike cannot be done away with,” Dikshit told reporters here.
The government Friday hiked the price of diesel by Rs.3 per litre, kerosene by Rs.2 per litre and domestic liquid petroleum gas (LPG) by Rs.50 per cylinder, excluding state levies such as VAT.
People from all over the country have voiced discontent over the hike, that comes a month after a Rs.5 increase in petrol prices, and said it will be a burden on their home budgets.
Asked if the Delhi government would take some steps in this regard, she said: “We will discuss this matter in the cabinet and then let’s see what can be done.”
