Four Maoists awarded death penalty in Jharkhand
Ranchi, June 23 (IANS) Four Maoists held guilty of killing of 19 people in Jharkhand, including former chief minister Babulal Marandi's son, were Thursday awarded the death penalty.
Additional District and Sessions Judge I.D. Mishra of Giridih district pronounced the ruling. They were held guilty Wednesday.
The four Maoists are Jeetan Marandi, Chtrapatti Mandal, Manoj Rajwar and Anil Rajwar.
On Oct 26, 2007, around 100 Maoists raided a cultural programme in Chilkhari village in Giridih district and killed the 19.
The victims included Anup Marandi, Babulal Marandi's son. Nunu Marandi, the younger brother of Babulal Marandi, escaped.
There were 10 accused in the massacre and six were acquitted Wednesday.
