New Delhi, Aug 6 (IANS) Five men accused of making fake degree certificates and marksheets of Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) and selling them for around Rs.50,000 each were arrested from south Delhi, police said Saturday.


Nimesh Pruthi, 29, Martin, 35 and Atif, 28 dealt with the clients and were arrested Aug 3 from New Friends Colony, south Delhi. Their partners, Rehan, 26 and Jitender, 24, who made the certificates, were arrested from a factory in south Delhi's Okhla area few hours later, said police.

The accused would scan the original document and then produce the fake certificates using fake rubber stamps, said police.

"The gang had sold more than 100 such fake degrees since they started operating in 2009. With these fake certificates and degrees, people were getting jobs in various call centres and private firms," said a police official.

More than 30 fake certificates and mark sheets of various degrees from arts to MBA have been recovered from them, police said.
