Engineering student held for fraud
New Delhi, April 28 (IANS) A Jamia Millia Islamia engineering student was arrested Thursday for hiring a proxy to appear for him in entrance exam last year, a varsity official said.
"The accused Krishna Baloni was a first year B. Tech. (computer engineering) student and upon interrogation confessed that he had arranged for an impersonator through a friend studying in Delhi University," said Masood Alam, Proctor of Jamia.
According to Alam, varsity officials found that photo of Baloni, who was appearing for the end semester examinations, did not match with the picture of the person who had appeared for the entrance test last year.
"This fact of impersonation was further corroborated as Baloni's finger prints also did not match with the ones taken at the time of the entrance test," added Alam.
The university has lodged an first information report and Baloni was handed over to the police, he added.
