Drunk pilot falls off building, dies
New Delhi, June 26 (IANS) In a freak accident, a 25-year-old pilot who was drinking and partying with his friends died after falling off the fifth floor of an apartment building here, police said Sunday.
"Jonathan Joseph Fernandis, who completed his pilot's course from the US, came to Delhi from Mumbai for the DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation) examinations for a licence to fly in India," a police officer said.
Police said Fernandis, who hails from Vikhroli in Mumbai, was living in Paschim Vihar in west Delhi.
On Saturday night, he went to a friend's place in Rohini for a party.
"According to his friends, they were partying in the flat Saturday night. Fernandis was sitting on the railing of the balcony and was drinking, when he suddenly lost balance and fell," said the officer.
His friends rushed him to hospital, where he succumbed to injuries.
"We grilled few of his friends. For now, we rule out any foul play," the officer added.
