DMK to discuss organisation, Congress ties at Coimbatore
Chennai, June 27 (IANS) Tamil Nadu's opposition DMK has convened a meeting of its executive and general council July 23-24 at Coimbatore to discuss party matters and other issues, including the alliance with the Congress.
In a statement issued here, party general secretary K. Anbazhagan said both the meetings would be chaired by DMK president M. Karunanidhi and would discuss organisational matters.
The executive meeting would be held July 23 evening, while the general council meeting would be held July 24 at 10 a.m.
It is learnt that also to be discussed will be the party's debacle in the recent assembly elections as well as impact of the 2G spectrum scam in which party's Rajya Sabha member and Karunanidhi's daughter Kanimozhi has been jailed, as has former telecom minister A. Raja.
The party is expected to discuss the game plan for the ensuing elections for the local bodies.
