DMK initiatives ensured enough power supply: Karunanidhi
Chennai, June 17 (IANS) The power supply in Tamil Nadu would improve over the next four years due to the projects initiated by the DMK government when it was in power, said party chief and former chief minister M. Karunanidhi.
In a letter to the party cadres Friday, he said the DMK government had taken steps so that the state would get 7,797 MW over the next four years.
According to him, the DMK government's decision to invite industrial investments in the state resulted in increased power consumption and power shortage during 2006-11, but the initiatives that were taken have ensured that the state will be free from power shortage in the future.
He denied Chief Minister Jayalalithaa's accusation that his government did not take steps to improve power supply position in the state.
