DMK convenes high-level meeting Wednesday after CBI chargesheet

Chennai, April 25 (IANS) Making apparent its unhappiness, Tamil Nadu's ruling DMK Monday said that wide publicity was given to the filing of a chargesheet against the party’s Rajya Sabha member Kanimozhi in the 2G spectrum case and the party's high-level action committee would meet Wednesday to chalk out its future course of action.

 
 In a statement issued here, DMK's General Secretary K. Anbazhagan said the party's
 high-level action committee will meet April 27 to chalk out the party's future course of action in the wake of the huge publicity being given to filing of a chargesheet by the Central Bureau of Investigation against Kanimozhi and Managing Director of Kalaignar TV Sharad Kumar.
 
 He said Kalaignar TV in a transparent manner had accepted a loan from a company which was paid back with interest and the transaction was reported to the Income Tax authorities.
 
 According to him, the CBI questioning of Kanimozhi, Kumar and M.K. Dayalu, wife of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President M. Karunanidhi were given wide publicity.
 
 The CBI Monday named Kanimozhi and Kumar as a co-conspirators in the case involving the award of second generation (2G) phone spectrum after it traced Rs.214 crore as the illegal money trail moved from Dynamix to Kusegaon and then on to Cineyug, all part of the DB Group that promoted Swan Telecom, ending with Kalaignar TV that gets its name from how Karunanidhi is popularly addressed - a scholar.
