Family

Generally a Polish family comprise of individuals interlinked with each other by parenting, wedding ties, adoption or relation. The Polish family is patriarchal with the meal being the head of the family. The women held the second slot in family hierarchy. Nowadays a general assurance prevail, important decisions are taken by both men as well as women. Though matriarchal is not that much popular, they are practiced in someplaces. Few families have women as the head of the family.


At some places the traditional method of joint and extended Polish family has gone. Very rarely one can find a few polish families having three or more generation living under eh same roof.


Nowadays, the strength of a polish family comprises of four persons (2+2), with two pants and two children.

Food

Some of the Poland recipes have Jewish and other countries influences. The most common ingredient used in Polish foods are beetroot, sausages, sauerkraut, sour cream cucumbers (gherkins), mushrooms,, kohlrabi, and smoked sausage. The polish food also consist of pierogi, kielbasa, kopytka pyzy (dough balls filled with meat), bigos, goÅ‚Ä…bki, Å›ledzie (herring), Oscypek schabowy, and lots more. Conventionally, food like rosóÅ‚, soups flaki, zupa grzybowa (mushroom broth), zupa ogórkowa, pomidorowa (tomato broth) żurek, zupa, etc are manufactured in big utensils for people in groups. Oars are utilized in preparing these kinds of food.


Some of the common drink, the poles consume are beer, Vodka and wine


Dress

The tradtional dress of Poland varies from region to region. But normally the Poles wear vibrantly colored and embroidery adorned dresses. During special occasion, they wear folk dresses.


The headdress of the Poles varied from hats to flower wreaths. The fabric colors also differ from region to region. Vests, aprons and ribbons are utilized based on the costume’s origin.


A normal folk costume for the girls comprise of white blouse, lace embroidered vest and full skirt. The Polish men usually wear colored vest, and tied by sash. He will wear a hat adorned with decorations.


The women wear skirts and colored vest with trims in gold color. With red rippons, they tie the blouse’ sleeves. These dresses are completed by white lace aprons.


Sports

The Poles are normally sports loving people. Some of the popular sports in Poland are basketball, track & field, fencing, weightlifting, boxing, football, handball, American football (Gridiron), swimming, ice hockey, and volleyball,
Water themed sports such as canoeing, fishing, and kayaking are also popular in Poland.
