Culture of Ireland

The Irish people are mostly of Celtic descent. However the nation has become ethnically diverse due to broad scale immigration from various countries.


Family life

For a quite a longtime the Irish people are viewed as pastoral people with well-built links to their communities and family. Most individual practiced agriculture and their lives were connected to their fields. The Irish people toiled for extended hours. They lived along with their parents in their same house. The Irish people are known for their strong attachment for the family, their kids, parents, siblings, etc.


However over the passage of time, the modernization in economy has made many Irish people to shift from the rural areas to urban areas in search of Job, which has lead to quantitative augmentation in the excellence of life for a majority of individuals. However this has also caused a disturbance in the networks of conventional community.


Food

The Irish are ardent fan of homemade, comfort foods. Some of the recipes, which are popular among the Irish, are Potato treats, Shepherd’s pie, Corned beef & Cabbage. Corned Beef with Cabbage Spring Rolls, potato treats, Irish stew with Guinness, roasted legs of lambs, etc. The Irish people also consume sea foods in abundance. They some of the most common fishes, which the Irish eat are Salmon, Cod, oysters, and Shellfish.


Dress

The Irish people do not have any particular dress code. Casual dresses are the most common attire found in Ireland. Since it is a very cold country, sweater is the most common attire worn by both men and women. In the work places, the people wear formal dress with appropriate colors in white, beige, tan, gray black and navy blue. Button-up shirts, pressed khaki pants, knee-length skirts and blazers, are some of the formals dresses worn in work places. Jacket and pants are made out of tweed or wool fabric Irish always wear only pressed cloth items.


Sports

The Irish people are sports aficionados. Soccer, Gaelic football, hockey, swimming, golf, cycling, aerobics, snooker/billiards, are some of the popular sports widely played in Ireland.
