New Delhi, May 1 (IANS) The Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) Sunday described as "barbarous" the killing of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi's youngest son and three young children in the family.

 
 "The killing of the youngest son, Seif al-Arab, and the deaths of three young children belonging to the family in a Nato air strike in Tripoli is a barbarous act," the party said.
 
 "The Nato forces are targeting Gaddafi and other leaders for assassination. This exposes the real intention of the military intervention which is to effect a 'regime change' in Libya," it said.
 
 "Those responsible for this crime should be held accountable."
 
 The CPI-M called for an immediate halt to the military strikes by the Nato in Libya.
 
 "India should demand an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council to put an end to the military intervention and to initiate talks for a  ceasefire and a political settlement."
