New Delhi, May 25 (IANS) The special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court Wednesday rejected a private petition seeking directions to the CBI to investigate telecom operators Aircel, Esstel and Data-com in the 2G spectrum scam.

Bharat Bhushan Naudiyal, a journalist from "Mithun Savera" newspaper in Mumbai filed the petition before the court of Special CBI judge O.P. Saini.

He said in the petition that undue and illegal favour has been given to the three companies without following the rules.

He stated to have 16 respondents in the petition.

The court, which accepted the petition, later dismissed it saying it was a "frivolous application" and imposed costs amounting to Rs.10,000 upon the applicant.
