Congress to revamp Kerala unit
Thiruvananthapuram, June 8 (IANS) The executive committee of the Congress in Kerala Wednesday decided to go for a total revamp of the party organisation in the state before August, a senior leader said here.
"The party state unit would be revamped before August. We will discuss with the high command on how best we can implement the policy of one man one post," state president Ramesh Chennithala said here Wednesday.
Wednesday's meeting was the first after the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) won narrowly in the recent assembly polls.
The UDF won 72 seats while the Left Front came close with 68 seats in the 140-member assembly.
The Congress party, which contested in 82 constituencies, could win in just 38 seats.
The meeting also decided to form a three-member committee headed by former minister Vakkom Purushothaman to go into the complaints from party ranks across the state over the decision on candidates in the assembly polls.
"All state-owned corporations and boards will have new heads. It has been decided not to consider those people who contested the assembly and the earlier Lok Sabha polls," added Chennithala.
