Bangalore, May 23 (IANS) The Congress and Janata Dal-Secular (JD-S) in Karnataka Monday said they will continue their fight against the B.S. Yeddyurappa ministry though the central government  rejected Governor H.R. Bhardwaj’s recommendation to dismiss the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in the state.

 
 “Our fight against Yeddyurappa will continue and further steps will be decided soon,” Leader of Opposition in the assembly Siddaramaiah of the Congress told reporters here.
 
 He said lack of majority for the United Progressive Alliance government in the Rajya Sabha could be the reason for the central government rejecting Bhardwaj’s recommendation for president's rule in Karnataka.
 
 Parliament has to approve within six months dismissal of any state government.
 
 Siddaramaiah, state Congress president G. Parameshwara and other party leaders spent three days in New Delhi trying to convince the central leaders to accept Bhardwaj’s recommendation. They returned to Bangalore Monday.
 
 JD-S president and former prime minister H.D. Deve Gowda said the Congress had “failed to take a firm stand despite enough reasons to dismiss” the Yeddyurappa government.
 
 Gowda met Left leaders in New Delhi last week seeking their support in the Rajya Sabha to pass the presidential proclamation. However, the Left parties said they were against imposition of president’s rule but demanded that Yeddyurappa and Speaker K.G. Bopaiah resign immediately.
 
 “The Congress has to explain to the people of the state why it has not taken action to dismiss the government,” Gowda said.
 
 He also said the JD-S' fight against Yeddyurappa and the BJP will continue.
