Congress core committee to meet over Anna issue
New Delhi, Aug 17 (IANS) With Gandhian activist Anna Hazare refusing to leave the Tihar Jail, the core committee of Congress is to meet Wednesday morning to finalise its strategy for dealing with the situation.
The meeting will be chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and will be attended by the party's top leadership, sources said.
Party general secretary Rahul Gandhi will be present.
Rahul Gandhi had also held a series of meeting with many senior leaders of the party Tuesday evening.
Anna Hazare was arrested Tuesday ahead of his proposed fast for a stronger anti-corruption law and taken to Tihar Jail.
Authorities later declared him free but the Gandhian refused to walk out of the jail until he was allowed to hold his planned fast without any fetters.
