Congress appoints office-bearers in Karnataka
New Delhi, April 13 (IANS) The Congress Wednesday reconstituted the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee by appointing 10 vice presidents, 20 general secretaries and 36 secretaries in the team led by state unit president G. Parmeshwara.
The vice presidents include A.B. Malaka Reddi, A. Krishnappa, V. Muniyappa, B.K. Chandrashekar, B.L. Shankar, Roshan Baig, J. Alexander, Rani Satish, C.S. Nanda Gouda and Kariyanna.
A statement issued by Congress general secretary Janardan Dwivedi said that party president Sonia Gandhi has “approved the proposal of constituting the Karnataka Pradesh Congress committee, its office-bearers, pradesh election committee and coordination committee.”
The 13-member state Congress coordination committee is headed by party general secretary Madhusudan Mistry. It includes Parameshwara and Congress Legislature Party leader Siddaramaiah.
The nine-member election committee is headed by Parameshwara.
Union Ministers S.M. Krishna, M. Veerapa Moily, Mallikarjun Kharge besides Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman K. Rahman Khan are the ex-officio members of the state executive committee. Party general secretaries Oscar Fernandes and B.K. Hariprasad are also ex-officio members of the state executive committee.
Parmeshwara was appointed Karnataka Congress chief in October last year.
