Greater Noida, Sep 21 (IANS) An elderly couple was allegedly murdered by their son and daughter who were eager to grab compensation money that had come the father's way, police said Wednesday.


After the crime was committed Tuesday in Parsol village here, son Om Vir and daughter Krishna tried to quietly cremate father Nahar Singh (65) and mother Rajbeeri (63).

But alerted by another son of the dead man, police arrested Om Vir and Krishna.

"Early in the morning, Om Vir took the bodies and cremated them," Superintendent of Police Rakesh Kumar Jolly said.

"If they had died a natural death, why did they not inform anyone? Moreover, Om Vir did not even wait for his younger brother Chandravir, who is with the CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force)."

Jolly said the elderly couple were probably murdered. The son and daughter were arrested.
