Chandy's promise against corrupt a bluff: Achuthanandan
Thiruvananthapuram, June 3 (IANS) Kerala's Leader of Opposition V.S. Achuthanandan Friday termed Chief Minister Oommen Chandy's promise of ensuring corruption-free governance as a bluff.
Addressing reporters here, the former chief minister said if Chandy was so determined to ensure corruption-free governance the first step he needed to take was that of sacking a few of his tainted cabinet colleagues.
"There are with him those who have cases against them and also he should not forget that he heads a government of a party which at the national level" has been accused of numerous scams, said Achuthanandan.
Chandy Thursday made a presentation on his targets in the first 100 days in office. He became the 21st chief minister of Kerala May 18.
Achuthanandan also came down heavily on the appointment of P.C. Iype as the new additional advocate general.
"This person was questioned by police in the Kozhikode sex scandal," he said, adding that Iype acted as a mediator to allegedly sabotage the case.
The scandal broke out in the 1990s, when Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) leader and former state minister P.K. Kunhalikutty was named in a sex racket being run under the garb of an ice cream shop.
