Chandy upset over slow pace of official work
Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 12 (IANS) Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, who completed a 100-day programme in office Monday, expressed dissatisfaction at the manner and pace at which "files" move both in the state secretariat and in the various departments.
Making a presentation of his achievements in the programme, he said the movement of files has not reached the desired level of his expectations.
"We had identified at the start of the 100-day programme that there were 1.32 lakh files in the state secretariat and we wanted to clear all these, but at the end of the 100 days we have been able to clear only around 49,000 files. Likewise in the various government departments, there were more than 10 lakh files that were pending but we have cleared only 4.25 lakh files," said Chandy.
In the detailed presentation, he said that out of the 107 various programmes that were listed out in the programme, 101 were achieved.
"We have taken a decision that we will give one final deadline to all departments to see that the remaining pending files be cleared before Sep 30," said Chandy.
He also announced that as part of the programme, he had invited suggestions from the people on ideas which could be beneficial for the state.
"We have received 1,065 ideas. That has been given a preliminary look and now we will see how we could incorporate these ideas and take it forward," he said, adding they would be shared when his government comes out with a one-year-schedule of what it plans to achieve.
Chandy assumed office on May 18 and in June he had announced a list of programmes that would be achieved in 100 days.
