Chandy and cabinet to attend IIM workshop

Thiruvananthapuram, July 6 (IANS) It is back to the classroom for Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and his 19 cabinet colleagues as they attend a one-day workshop Aug 18 at the Indian Institute of Management-Kozhikode to get themselves equipped with the latest in development.

Chandy said this Wednesday after the weekly cabinet meeting.

“Yes, all of us will be in the classrooms for a day at the IIM-Kozhikode. This was one of the items that we had listed out in the first 100 days of taking over in the state,” said Chandy.

Asked what sort of activities would take place in the classrooms that day, the chief minister gave his characteristic smile.

“Let us go first and then I will tell everything,” came his reply when probed further.

Speaking to IANS, IIM-K director Debashis Chatterjee said they are honoured by the decision of the chief minister and his cabinet to come over to the institution.

“We intend to work out with the chief minister and his full team of cabinet ministers the nuances of how to approach development,” said Chatterjee, who had taught at Harvard in the past.

"It would be a workshop mode where we are going to get the best in the business to speak to them,” added the director.
