New Delhi, July 21 (IANS) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Thursday said that Delhi Police should distinguish between those who indulged in corruption in the 2008 cash-for-votes controversy in parliament and those who blew the lid off the scandal, and hoped that investigations will be done properly to expose the real culprit.


BJP spokesman Prakash Javadekar said there was a difference between those who exposed corruption and those who were corrupt, and added that if police investigations were done properly, the real picture about the scam would come out in 15 days.

"We are extending full cooperation. If investigation is done in correct manner, the real picture will emerge about how the Congress took recourse to corruption (in the trust vote)," he said.

A Delhi court earlier sent Suhail Hindustani, a former BJP worker and the second accused to be arrested in the controversy, to a day's police remand. He was taken into custody Wednesday.

Special Judge Sunita Dhingra also extended by a day the police custody of co-accused Sanjeev Saxena - the first to be arrested in the case July 16. His three-day police remand ended Thursday.

Saxena, former private secretary to Rajya Sabha member Amar Singh, alleged that Amar Singh, then with the Samajwadi Party, had provided Rs.1 crore for buying the support of three BJP MPs in a trust vote in 2008.
