New Delhi, Sep 15 (IANS) Two brothers were arrested for kidnapping a minor and repeatedly raping her at their native place in Uttar Pradesh - 19 years after the crime, police said Thursday.


Sajawal, 45 and Girdawal, 50, were arrested from Mirzapur Wednesday, said Deputy Commissioner of Police Meenu Choudhary.

In a special drive to arrest the absconding criminals, police came to know that both the accused were residing at their native place. "We conducted raids and arrested them," said Choudhary.

Sajawal told police that he allured a 14-year-old girl, a resident of Okhla in south Delhi, to flee away with him on pretext of marriage Oct 17, 1992, police said.

After taking her to native place, Sajawal told police that he had raped her. He also said that his brother Girdawal also raped her frequently, police said.

Later on, the minor was rescued after ten days but both the brothers escaped. They were proclaimed offenders, police said.
