Kolkata, July 2 (IANS) A couple in West Bengal Saturday alleged that their baby boy was swapped with a girl, a hospital official said.

 
 The incident happened at Burdwan Medical College and Hospital (BMCH) in Burdwan district, Subodh Bhattacharya, hospital superintendent, told IANS over phone.
 
 Budge Budge resident Bapi Badyakar complained to the superintendent that his wife Rupa gave birth to a boy at 3 a.m Saturday. Hours later their baby was replaced with a new born girl child.
 
 The complaint has been forwarded to the police, Bhattacharya said.
 
 "We have already set up two committees to probe the matter. Even we have told the police to conduct DNA tests of both the mother and the new born girl child if they wish," Bhattacharya said.
 
 Bapi Badyakar and his relatives staged a protest before the superintendent's office demanding that their boy be restored to them.
