BJP should apologise for Sushma's dance at Rajghat: Congress

Lucknow/New Delhi, June 7 (IANS) The Congress Tuesday sought an apology from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for its leader Sushma Swaraj dancing during the party's protest at Rajghat and wondered if it was party of "nachias (dancers)".

Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh said in Lucknow that "the party which nurtures the ideology of those who killed Mahatma Gandhi" had gone to Rajghat, the memorial of Gandhi, "in the name of staging a dharna" but its leader Sushma Swaraj was dancing on the occasion.

"Why was she dancing, it is not clear. (BJP leader) Vijay Goel was dancing. (It is) nachion ki party (party of dancers). They should be ashamed. They should seek apology of people," Digvijay Singh said.

Congress spokesman Manish Tewari said in New Delhi that action of BJP leaders had shamed the country.

"They announced an agitation at a place which is held in high esteem not only in India but the world. But by their actions, they have not only lowered respect for Mahatma Gandhi but have shamed the country," Tewari said.

"The manner, method and character of the party (BJP) is reflected by such incidents," he said.

Attacking Sushma Swaraj directly, Tewari said the "leader of opposition in the Lok Sabha has not been able to reply what joy she was immersed in which led to such behaviour".
