Anna's fast enters day 7, crowds throng Ramlila ground

New Delhi, Aug 22 (IANS) Wearing the now famous "I am Anna" caps and carrying huge flags, thousands of supporters continued to throng the Ramlila ground in the capital as activist Anna Hazare's fast for a strong anti-corruption bill entered the seventh day Monday.

Team Anna member Arvind Kejriwal said that there was no proposal from the government for talks so far. He also said that Hazare has urged the supporters to protest in front of the houses of their MPs.

"Annaji has urged the people to go and protest in front of the houses of their MPs, and tell them if they don't support the Jan Lokpal bill, they will be voted out in the next elections," Kejriwal told reporters.

Hazare, who began fasting Aug 16, had lost five kg by Monday morning but his condition was said to be stable. However, he had developed ketone particles -- created by the body during starvation -- in his blood and urine.

Some supporters were celebrating Janmashtami -- celebrated to mark birth of Lord Krishna -- at Ramlila ground in central Delhi.

Hazare, 74, was detained Aug 16 and taken to Tihar Jail, where he remained until Aug 19 when he shifted to Ramlila ground.
