Alliance with DMK stays: Congress
New Delhi, July 7 (IANS) The Congress Thursday declined to comment on the resignation of DMK's Dayanidhi Maran from the cabinet and said its alliance with the Tamil Nadu party was intact.
“Political alliances are based on appreciation of ground situation. We have an alliance with the DMK since 2004. The situation stays as such,” Congress spokesman Manish Tewari told reporters here.
Tewari, however, declined to comment on the resignation. “If at all anything has to be said, it is for the government to say so... We should wai.”
Tewari attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
“Did we see (Karnataka Chief Minister B.S.) Yeddyurappa resign despite so much evidence against him? Did trustees of Kushabhau Thakre trust resign after allotment of land by the Madhya Pradesh government was struck down by the apex court? Before trotting out lectures of morality, they should look within,” Tewari said.
