Advani meets RSS chief
Nagpur, Sep 21 (IANS) Ahead of his nationwide tour against corruption, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader L.K. Advani met Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat Wednesday.
Talking to reporters after the meeting, Advani said he intended to visit the north-east during his 'yatra' this time.
“It will be throughout the country and we will try to touch all major cities," he said. "I would like to go to the north-east also.”
The 'yatra' is likely to start Oct 11, birth anniversary of Jayaprakash Narayan, whose mobilisation of students in 1974 and call for Total Revolution provoked the then prime minister Indira Gandhi into imposing an unpopular internal emergency, which caused her downfall in 1977.
Advani's visit came amid reports of RSS fears of Advani's 'yatra' being an attempt to project himself as a prime ministerial candidate. However, RSS sources say, the 'yatra' has its support.
Advani denied any differences with the RSS.
