Achuthanandan worried due to son's case: Kunhalikutty
Kozhikode (Kerala), Sep 3 (IANS) Kerala Leader of Opposition V.S. Achuthanandan is worried these days because of cases against his son and a relative, state Industry Minister P.K. Kunhalikutty said Saturday.
Achuthanandan Friday filed a petition in the high court seeking a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the two-decade-old Kozhikode sex scandal allegedly involving Kunhalikutty.
Reacting to this, Kunhalikutty said: "It is understandable why Achuthanandan is behaving like this. He is worried because of various cases that are being inquired of against his son and also the land grab case against his relative."
Former chief minister Achuthanandan allegedly sanctioned land to a relative in north Kerala. There are also cases against his son V.A. Arun Kumar, employed in a state-run organization.
The Kozhikode racket involved an ice-cream parlour here as its base. Kunhalikutty, the Indian Union Muslim League leader, was allegedly involved in the sexual abuse of a minor girl.
Achuthanandan's petition contended that only the CBI can come out with the real truth. Earlier, Achuthanandan had ordered an inquiry into the case.
