49 firearms, 1,000 detonators seized in West Bengal
Kolkata, June 10 (IANS) At least 49 firearms, 50 rounds of ammunition and 1,000 detonators were seized from two districts of West Bengal Friday, police said.
"At least 44 firearms were recovered from two places in Monidah near Kankshabati river bank while five others were recovered from Salboni area," said West Midnapore Additional Superintendent of Police Sukesh Jain.
The firearms were recovered from a river bank and a pond near one Nanda Dulal Patra's house, Jain told IANS over phone.
Police also arrested a man, Badam Sheikh, from Birbhum district and seized 1,000 detonators from his possession.
"We arrested the youth from Chakmondala village near Rampurhat sub-division. A probe has been initiated to know the whereabouts of the other members of the gang," said Birbhum Superintendent of Police Nishad Parvez.
