What are eyebrows and eyelashes for? |

|
Eyebrows and eyelashes protect the eyes, which are fairly delicate. Protecting the eyes is important because people rely far more on sight to get information about their world than on any of their other senses. (We don't have the keen sense of smell that a dog has, for instance, or the excellent hearing of a cat.) Eyebrows keep sweat and dust and dirt from reaching our eyes. Eyelashes do the same, protecting the delicate surface of the eyeball. |
