Holiday may be 6 days if Eid starts Friday July 17 By Staff Published Thursday, June 25, 2015 Kuwait’s civil servants could enjoy a 10-day holiday if the fasting month of Ramadan ends on Friday July 17 and Eid Al Fitr starts on Saturday July 18, a newspaper in the Gulf OPEC oil producer reported on Thursday. The Arabic language daily Al Anba said the cabinet would approve that long holiday to compensate the employees or the weekends. But if Ramadan ends on Thursday July 16 and Eid Al Fitr starts on Friday July 17, then the holiday will last six days. “In this case, government offices will be closed from Thursday until Tuesday…work will resume on Wednesday July 22,†it said. Saudi Arabia announces 12-day Eid Al Fitr holiday Work in Kingdom cut to 5 hours during Ramadan Earlier this month Saudi Arabia announced a 12-day holiday for its public servants to mark Eid Al Fitr after the end of the fasting month of Ramadan, which began last week. King Salman bin Abdul Aziz issued a circular setting the Eid holiday for all government departments during July 17-28, newspapers reported on Wednesday. “Work at government offices in the Kingdom will resume on Wednesday, July 29,†the statement said. The circular also slashed work hours at government departments to five hours during the Ramadan, starting from 10am and ending at 3pm. The birthplace of Islam, Saudi Arabia has a population of around 30 million, including nearly nine million expatriates, mostly Asians.
