KD 300 fee to hire maids
KUWAIT: A number of lawmakers are currently working on a draft bill to establish a government company to bring in domestic workers into the country through the investment authority. Parliamentary sources said that the idea had been previously proposed by MP Kamled Al-Awadhi over a year and a half earlier, and that the government’s delay in issuing a law made them to list it on the parliament’s agenda as soon as possible. The sources explained that the main purpose of establishing such a government company was to fight the soaring fees citizens and expats pay to hire domestic workers, and that the new company would only charge KD 20 per application in addition to KD 280 for fees and airfare. —Al-Anbaa 3.5 tons of ammo collected so far Interior Ministry PR and moral guidance director Brig Adel Al-Hashash said that the total number of weapons collected so far since a four-month grace period was launched on March 22 numbered 1,200 weapons, in addition to 3.5 tons of ammunition. —Al-Anbaa Printing stop After an announcement by the Interior Ministry that printing and photocopy services at security centers have been suspended based on the recommendation of the Audi Bureau, there was confusion at all departments. Many people could not complete the processing of their transactions, and some were forced to violate the visa law as there was no time to type their transactions outside. Work at the traffic and visa departments in Farwaniya began normally, but as time went by, offices became crowded and confusion prevailed because of the lack of workers at the printing offices.
