Fake cop arrested for expats’ mugging
KUWAIT: Farwaniya detectives arrested a man who had been impersonating as a first lieutenant and robbing bachelors’ dwellings in Khaitan, said security sources. Case papers indicate that a number of expats had filed complaints accusing someone in uniform of robbing them with the excuse of searching their residences. Conducting investigations, detectives indentified the suspect as a citizen with a criminal record who was already wanted for several cases, and arrested him. In another case, a newly graduated traffic policeman and a few Bangladeshi men assisting him were recently arrested for blackmailing expat drivers in Jleeb and taking bribes from them to spare them the penalty of deportation, said security sources. Case papers indicate that an expat reported the policeman’s abuse of powers and provided detectives with the license plate number of a rental car the policeman was using. Arresting the main suspect, he confessed that he had been using the Bangladeshi assistants to bargain with his clients and that he usually gave them 40 percent of the KD 500 bribes he collected from each violator to let him go and not deport him. A case was filed. Source:kuwaittimes http://news.kuwaittimes.net/fake-cop-arrested-for-expats-mugging/ |
