6 Ways to Keep the Kids Active

1. Limit the Screen Time
Internet, television, DVDs, mobile phones, computer games and anything else with a screen, is keeping kids from being active. These are not necessities in a child’s life. So slowly reduce the time that the kids spend doing these sedentary activities. 2. Lead by Example Your active lifestyle can have a big influence on your kid. This will help them view physical activity more as an opportunity to take care of their health than a mere chore or a punishment. 3. Involve Kids in Household Chores Give your child some work to help you around the house. It could be washing dishes, folding laundry, dusting, etc. You can even give them a broom to help you clean the house. They love to help around and also they will benefit from the physical activity involved in the act. 4. Take Them for a Walk There is a famous quote that says “Walking is man’s best medicine.†Ditch your car sometimes and walk up to your destination. During the walk keep talking to your kids about the things you come across. This will keep their mind occupied and reduce the chances of them getting bored. 5. Organize a Dance Night Most of the kids love dancing. Put on some music and let the kids dance. Along with the physical activity, they will also have lots of fun. 6. Go for a Picnic Children just love outdoors. Invite their friends and organize a picnic in the nearby garden or go to a playground. Take some toys like, balls, kites, skipping rope, Frisbee, etc. along. They enjoy doing these things in the company of other children. You can even make them do some relay race. Apart from the above mentioned activities there are many more interesting things that you can do to keep your kids active. All you need is a bit of creativity and lots of patience. |
