Procedure for 10 minutes meditation

Find a comfortable place to sit and sit cross legged on the floor or on a straight backed chair with the feet touching the ground. Set an alarm for 10 minutes. Place your hand on your belly and start to slowly inhale and exhale slowly concentrating on the breathe. Close your eyes and place the hands on the knees. Breathe steadily and try to calm your mind. Thoughts may flow in an out of the mind but do not try to battle them. It would gradually calm down. Count your breathe and count up to ten and repeat. Alternately try chanting ‘Om’ or ‘I am happy’ in mind or loudly. You can even think of something positive or something which makes you happy and concentrate on it. Visualize it and concentrate fully on it. This would help you to train your thoughts and find happiness from within.
First try for just 10 minutes but you can keep on increasing the time gradually. Do this as often as possible and whenever you get time. This would help to stay healthy, stay calm and relax. From Pooja |
