Dental Phobia Dental phobia is basically a fear from dental treatment or from injection in mouth. Many people do not make Dentist appointment only because of phobia and keep on delaying the problem until it becomes worse. Symptoms of Dental anxiety Symptoms of Dental anxiety are as follows: • Tingling sensation in hands and feet • Trembling • Nausea • Sweating • Tightness in chest • Shortness of breath • Slipping of tongue • Difficulty in speech Preventive measures to overcome Dental anxiety Some of the different ways to control anxiety are: • Try to communicate with patient as much as you can and explore the reason of anxiety. • Try to cover short treatment procedures in first visit if possible. • Always use simple words in speech. • Music plays very important role in controlling anxiety. Always play some soothing or soft music in Dental clinic. • Sterilization room should not be visible from treatment room, there should be some partition in between two rooms. |
