Bahrain economy set to surge by 4 per cent
Manama: Bahrain’s economy is expected to grow by at least four per cent this year despite global financial challenges and declining oil prices, said a top banking executive. Al Baraka Banking Group chief executive Adnan Yousif said non-oil sectors will play a crucial role in boosting the economy and spurring growth. He stressed the importance of strategic infrastructure and energy projects carried out last year in bolstering growth. Mr Yousif said the construction sector grew by two digits to exceed 12pc. Bahrain’s economy, he said, stands to benefit tangibly from the $10 billion GCC Development Plan. He said the government’s $22bn spending programme for the next five years is another major boost.
